49th Annual Atlanta Film Festival Films Nominated for Academy Awards

ATLANTA, GA (January 28th, 2026)—The Atlanta Film Society and the Atlanta Film Festival are honored to congratulate and recognize three films from the 49th Annual Atlanta Film Festival nominated for the upcoming 98th Academy Awards taking place on March 15th. The three films and the categories in which they’re nominated are:

“Retirement Plan”Directed by John Kelly:  In the throes of his overstimulated, energy-poor midlife, Ray (Domhnall Gleeson) fantasises about everything he’d love to do in retirement, once he finally has the “time.” 


The Devil Is Busy” Directed by Getta Gandbhir and Christalyn Hampton: As the director of operations and security of an abortion clinic in Atlanta, Tracy doesn't take any chances when it comes to the safety of both the patients and the staff. Executive Produced by Soledad O'Brien and Directed by Geeta Gandbhir and Christalyn Hampton, THE DEVIL IS BUSY is an eye-opening on-the-ground portrayal of the shifting landscape for abortion providers in America.



“Come See Me in the Good Light” Directed by Ryan White: Trying to contextualize and come to terms with a terminal cancer diagnosis comes with heartbreak and heavy realizations. Colorado Poet Laureate Andrea Gibson approaches their situation with honesty and art. Alongside their fellow poet partner, Megan Falley, Gibson works towards a big final performance, bringing their spoken word skills to life on an otherwise grim topic. The true beauty comes from within their relationship.
