Interested in working in the camera department?  Want to be a DP someday?  The best way to learn is from the ground up starting as a Camera PA or Intern.  This class isn't about what camera to use or how to operate one.  We focus this workshop on teaching you terminology, protocol, tools of the trade, how to get and keep a job, and disposition needed to eventually work in the Camera Department as a Loader, 2nd AC, Focus Puller/1st AC, Camera Operator and/or Director of Photography.

Workshop taught by Producer Linda Burns

Linda Burns produces award winning national commercials, industrials and television shows, pilots, and promos. For over 16 years, in between commercial production work, she line produced and production managed numerous indie shorts, trailers and features, nurturing the next generation of filmmakers in Georgia. She sits on industry and festival panels, teaches production classes, writes coverage on screenplays, and screens films for local festivals. She is a member of the Producers Guild, and sits on the Executive Committees of the Board of Directors for both Atlanta Film Festival 365 and Georgia Production Partnership. Recent credits include: Titleist, Pebble Beach Resorts, Spectracide, Georgia Pacific, Honda, Turner Studios, "The Proxy", "The Little Death", "Living is Winning" and "The Signal". Linda currently oversees the GPP - ATL Film 365 PA Academy and regularly helps local productions acquire interns by collecting and reviewing resumes. In the last year two years, Linda processed over 750 resumes.

Set PAs require hard working, skilled, savvy, team players willing to work long hours and do whatever it takes to keep production running smoothly. The Set Production Assistant or Set PA can be an entry level position teaching you the business from the ground up, but on features, experience is a must. How do you get that experience, should you take an internship position, how do you get a job that requires experience with no experience? These topics and more will be discussed.

During this course you will learn : Terminology and on-set etiquette Set PA duties and responsibilities Different PAs on a Feature, i.e. paperwork PA, basecamp PA, etc. Basic "tools of the trade" How to get work and keep working What makes a great set PA and how not be 'that guy' no one wants to hire again

This workshop will help you determine if being a Set PA is really for you. It's a challenging job, but can be incredibly rewarding if you decide you are up to the challenge. Find out if you have what it takes to join the film industry as a Set Production Assistant.
