Borne from the recognition that the South has been home and inspiration for many of America’s greatest storytellers, ATLFF365 Southern Exposure exists to spotlight Southern films & filmmakers by helping bring new works to diverse audiences across various platforms.
We will be selecting short films of every genre from submissions, previous ATLFF alumni and our content partners WonderRoot and the GSU Film Festival!
ATLFF365 Southern Exposure is now accepting submissions for the Fall of 2011 edition.
From September 13 through December 29, 24 short films will be selected to screen exclusively on XFINITY On Demand in the Atlanta market.
The Fall 2011 Southern Exposure will include 24 films across 12 weeks. One film will premiere every Tuesday and Thursday and be available on XFNITY Video On Demand for 60 days.

(Films Playing November 22nd – December 29th)
*Films submitted for deadline #1 will be considered for deadline #2 also.
GENERAL RULES
1. Submitted films MUST be 15 minutes or less. Films longer than 15 minutes will not be considered.
2. Films must be from either Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas. Films from other states will not be considered.
3. Filmmakers must be able to provide a master digital copy and master DVD of the their submission for screening unless otherwise noted. Quicktime files preferred. Resolution at least or greater than 640×480 required.
4. Entries must generally arrive 3 days before a selection deadline to be properly considered.
5. All works must be either submitted on DVD (region 1 or 0) for pre-screening or online. Please do not send film reels or original material.

6. Screeners will not be returned. Please do not send self addressed stamped envelopes.
7. Eligible works must have been completed after January 1, 2006
8. Works in progress WILL NOT be accepted for submission.
9. You will not receive style points for fancy packaging. It is wasteful and costly to send DVDs in hard plastic covers. We encourage you to ship everything in paper sleeves.
10. Notification of selection status for each Chapter will be made two weeks no later than two weeks before the scheduled start time for that chapter, see selection dates above.
11. For selected films, filmmakers must sign a release form giving XFINITY and ATLFF365 permission to screen the work.
12. Submitted films must be 100% original works using original materials (music, image, sound, writing) created by the filmmakers. For any copyrighted work or intellectual property not created by the filmmakers, they must be able to provide signed documentation, with contact info, showing proof that: A) The original creator has given the filmmakers permission to use the work/intellectual property. B) the original creator has authorized that the work can be screened via Video On Demand in the Atlanta market for a minimum of 4 weeks.

How do you define the South?
We define the South as Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas. All submitted films must either have been shot in or by a filmmaker from one of these 9 states.
What about the other States that are sometimes considered the South?
Southern Exposure is a new program, so it is possible that it could expand to cover more states.
How are films for Southern Exposure chosen?
Films for Southern Exposure are evaluated based on 5 categories: Story, Technical, Originality, Acting/Subjects and Entertainment). Using those scores as a base, films are then selected by ATLFF365 for inclusion in Southern Exposure.
What makes Southern Exposure different from a regular film festival?
Unlike a film festival, Southern Exposure has no set dates or a set format. Working with various partners and sponsors, the films and format are matched with the platform. This flexibility allows Southern Exposure to run anytime, anywhere and to even run various versions at the same time.
Are we giving up our rights if we submit a film to Southern Exposure?
No. As with the Atlanta Film Festival, all rights are retained by the filmmakers and original copyright holders.
Do films have to be Premieres on Southern Exposure?
No, but if your film has played somewhere, mention that. We’d love to know!
Can I submit to the Atlanta Film Festival and Southern Exposure?
When you submit to the Atlanta Film Festival you will automatically be considered for Southern Exposure. Filmmakers may opt out of consideration.
How long and often will you play the films?
As an ongoing, multi-platform program, the number of plays will vary. With each new submission period, the current version of Southern Exposure will be posted, with dates, format and specific requirements.
